- Brian, I am very sorry if what you see happening at the tapr
- annual meeting is of no interest to you. I do realize your a way ahead of
- all the other hams in this world, but for this poor old ham of 30 years
- who runs both a bbs and NET and I'm looking forward to meeting Johan of
- Jnos fame and Remi Houton f6cnb/w5 who I forward to and from with packet
- bbs traffic. Not your bag Brian, but it might be a little interesting I
- should hope.
-
- The "new" way tapr is going is attactive to me. I like what I see.

- When the local data lady started producing charts and graphs for the new
- ISDN network it all looked pretty good. Since most of the building-to-
- building network was ancient 9600 baud switching. This allowed remote
- users to log onto the various Unix boxes from the comfort of their office.
-
- The thought of switching from 9600 to 64k seemed like a good idea. If it
- was used in the same way as the 9600, it would have been a success. But
- the PC has changed everything and now Novell is the favored network, and the
- Unix boxes are for SMTP and FTP. The result is that people are doing Harvard
- Graphics and other video intensive software over this ISDN system. Just
- watching the modem lights tells you this won't support us for very long.
-
- Well you pays your money and ye take da chances eh?
-
- The data lady is now working on charts and graphs for fiber...
